The last four days have been a whirlwind of new and exciting learning. I must say I am very psyched about working with all the people that I have met. Our iMET cohort is varied, consisting of teachers and active professionals, both in the teaching and business worlds. From the first day, we could tell that everyone was a little nervous, but after a little guidance from MikePM, we all felt at ease with each other. By the end, I think that all of us came out with a much better understanding of where we were going and how we were all going to get there.
I must also say that I have not had so much homework in a long time. Taking the GATE certification classes helped, but the amount of reading, writing, "meeting" times, and collaboration that I think we will be doing for the Masters is going to easily overshadow that. However, thinking about all that work has the ironic effect of making me feel energized. I feel like a new person, striving to get over that hill, hoping, knowing I will see the other side.
The only downside to the 4 days was the lack of time I had to do everything else. I just spent all morning grading finals. When I get back, I know I will have a mess on my hands and have even more papers to grade I missed when I took the days off to go to school. On top of all that, grades are due for the semester. BUT, I would not trade the last 4 days.
On other fronts, my sister went back to New York to go to school. Good luck to her in her spring semester.
I am also gearing up for FanimeCon 2005 and hoping I do a much better job this time. I have a lot more time and being in charge from the beginning is a huge help. I am able to develop a lot of things and make changes before it goes to presses and learn from last year without having to seem as if my head is about to fall off. (Although, still not knowing when all the meeting dates are is not too good.)
That is all for now...I have more reading to do! Late!
