Work has taken up so much of my time that I had forgotten what it was to do other things with my time. But, I think I started to make up for lost time last week. First, I went to dinner with my little bro Tuyen, who called because she remembered it was BB appreciation week the week before and tricked me into going to pay for my food again. Ah, how sweet! I really do appreciate people who pay for my food and all, but I really feel guilty afterwards. It is a nasty conundrum that causes me great pain at times: paying for the whole thing or allowing the other person to pay to respect that they are doing something nice for you. I don’t know if I worded that right, but I think you all get the picture. Many of you, like myself, feel that paying is a responsibility, but when someone offers to do it, you feel conflicted…accept it and let them treat you or refuse and pay your share or all of it and hope they are not offended. Hmmm…I think my parents were the premier example. They always felt like treating people out whenever they went out and they felt bad and would argue if others treated them out. There is something cultural here too, but I think a lot of you would agree that your parents are probably the same way.
Moving on…I went to the first TNT (APO Talent / No Talent) in years (I think) and I enjoyed it very much. There was music, dancing, Will and Daryl making fun of themselves singing a Wham! Song (It was great, really…but, hilarious at the same time…). Sam did a great job choreographing the Close family dance routine (nice!!!), especially with only 4 practices.
On Saturday, I spent the afternoon asleep with allergy drugs in my system. That night, Nancy Nguyen called saying she was in town going to Picnic Day at UCD and wanted to have dinner. So, that night, some “old fogies” (sorry guys, Jason Capitan and Ed are old enough and even Kalen, yes, even he is OLD) from APO got together and had dinner at Sudwerks…where we froze our butts off sitting outside (I was still drugged up and feeling really sleepy…hehe…). It was great. Later that night, I went to see “Scorpion King” with Will, Rosina, her brother, Kalen, and Elena. It was full of action…action…action…not much else..but, enjoyable…a good romp!
Sunday was horrible. My allergies attacked like never before. I took extra drugs but my throat still began to hurt when I swallowed…still does at the moment. Aside from having a nice lunch with my sister, I suffered the rest of the day. I came home and found out we are not looking for an apartment anymore, but Dave is looking to buy a house sooner than he thought. Oh well…there was nothing here anyway (Davis cleans up fast.) That about wraps up my weekend. This week should be interesting as well. I have another field trip tomorrow to San Francisco with one of my classes. I have never taken kids out that far. I hope and pray it all works out and I don’t lose one of them in the masses.
Now, if only I can figure out what to make for dinner…
