Mr. And Mrs. Yabes! Congratulations! A marital union 6 years in the making…and what a wedding it was. It was my first Catholic wedding I’d ever attended and the experience was more than I thought it would be. I think that the priest was more excited than the bride and groom…he was very animated and officiated with an affective aplomb that really impressed me. Afterward, I was happy to see some people I had not seen in awhile, including Chau, Kiet, Zung, Clarissa, Larry, Lester, Victoria, Shauna, Roger, Mia, Dennis, Eric, Marie, etc. Milly, Jason, Steve, and Will and other “old” APO people were present.
Before the ceremony started, Will and I had just arrived and we had to use the restroom, and I guess there was only one in the church. I rushed in and was doing my business when a resounding knock came upon the door and it turns out that Tony, himself, needed to use the restroom. When I stepped outside, there was a very calm Tony who looked decked out and very ready and poised to do the deed (both the bathroom and the marriage). I also noted a line that had suddenly formed for the bathroom. Poor Will, after being cut by the Bride-groom was cut by 2 others before going…and he was sick too. (Hope you’re feeling better, my friend.)
After the wedding itself, some of us went to Taco Bell…yes, Taco Bell, and had a late snack/lunch/linner(?). Then, we did a little window shopping and proceeded to the cocktail hour and reception. Free flowing alcohol…ah…very nice. I especially liked the chardonnay…not too tart. The rest of the night was a blur of bouquet/garter toss, cake cutting, toasts (3, in fact, one by Regina’s brother along with the best man and maid of honor), and dancing. All in all, it was a very well done and beautiful day. Congratulations to them again and I know they will have a bright and everlasting future full of generous bounty in love and happiness.
